My idea is to make obstacles not solved by hm but components of a Pokemon. Pokemon smaller than a certain size can fit into pipes and retrieve items or crawl though a hole and unlock a door. Heavy pokemon can press down buttons that open old stone temple doors. A calm natured pokemon is able to solve a puzzle, while a brave one may make a daunting guard let you pass. I want to utilize things often overlooked, such as height, weight, habitat, nature, type, color, and egg group. Basically the event would do a check to see if a party pokemon has that and then the event plays out.
