Flew to Olivine City and caught the Fast-Ship SS Aqua to Vermilion city. While on board, I battled a bunch of trainers, found an old man's daughter, and finally arrived in Vermilion city, which has a very pleasant theme song.
I boxed a bunch of items, and tried to surf over to the Vermilion city gym when I realized... I forgot to teach Mikhail how to surf again! Back to Johto!
if I wanted to head to Johto and back again without needing waterfall, I'd need to re-power the magnet train. So, first stop was in Cerulean City to box Mikhail temporarily and get Jane, to surf on.
The first area in Kanto where I actually took the time out to fight some trainers was route 9, where I beat Picnicker Edna, Camper Sid, Camper Dean, Hiker Tim, and Picnicker Heidi. Once I got there, I learned that the reason for the magnet train's closure is because a thief stole the parts, apparently, he's in Cerulean City, so off I went.
When I got there, I decided to look in the first place I'd hide out if I were a dickass thief - the gym. I was right on the money, as a Rocket Grunt was running out as I came in. It didn't take too long to find the machine part underwater.
On the nugget bridge, I confronted the Unovan stereotype and demanded a fight. Despite being a "trainer number one" he didn't do so well. I returned the generator part, and headed back to Saffron city to take the magnet train... Only to get booted out because I didn't' have a pass, which were retailing for slightly more money than there exists in the world.
While I was moping in the saffron city playground, a little girl who looked and sounded a lot like me asked if I'd seen her poke-doll. After a brief chat. I agreed to find her doll in Vermilion city if she gave me her magnet train pass.
