Like others said, give gym leaders Johto mons. Every game has 80% shitmons so that isnt an issue but still would like more variety. Tyhplosion Ampharos Lapras/Red Gyarados Snorlax is pretty old and same, but not as bad as Sinnoh. Scizor and Tyranitar are one of my favorites.
