I don't know how it is in American, but in the UK i can safely so nobody IRL i've met gets triggered by words like retard or autism. Everyday lads you meet/work with all make fun of trannies and lgbt movements and in fact, being in a fairly populated area i've never seen a tranny in my life.
These "people" on the internet are just very vocal because if you don't conform to what the popular opinion is on reddit or social media, you WILL get banned/silenced which is why you see so many progressive comments getting updoots and this site being one of the very few places where people can actually speak their mind.
