Who the fuck cares about save files? You play to get N-E-W experiences not old ones. And every save file represents O-L-D experiences. Gamefreak is pushing you to try something N-E-W, but instead you keep whining and nitpicking just for the sake of it.
In conclusion: losing your game files is objectively a good thing, and it also makes you feel like you're playing with software from 25+ years ago, which gives you nostalgia. And let's not forget that the games are targeted at kids, and kids don't care about savefiles
