I'm not basing my opinion on the entire series, but I won't deny that after the mess that was BW, XY is very engaging right now.
The anime also has a new director, so there's nothing wrong with thinking the series is looking up.
At least, it's better than people saying "maaan, when is the series gonna suck? I give it (x) more episodes!"
