there's no puzzle to solve or dead end wrong-way type shit, just little branching bits here and there with some garbage at the end of it and maybe a handful of trainers scattered around
it's the closest the game gets to the 'cave style' of past games and even comparing it to those makes it seem even worse due to how there's no HMs or visual fuckery for them to work with when it comes to level design difficulty
it's not a linear hallway, but it's pretty damn close to it. "wide as an ocean, shallow as a puddle" and all that
