It's a high speed online messaging platform. It's like IRL socializing except you don't have to be near other people, no need to read body language or interpret what a message means based on tone of voice and, for the most part, context seeing how discord and online massaging in general is seen as a sort of place for the informal face of someones communicating style to be expressed. Discord also lets people be divided by secret channels and servers and DMs which obviously leads to drama so it's basically perfect for two types of mentally ill people, those that seek control over others and situations and those who get exploited and need human interactions.
