Well gen 1 would have never happened if nintendo didn't step in and help with the development. PLus I think their elephant game's launcher was just broken from the get go.
Then there's a thread here that postulates that they lost all their assets moving from the 3ds to the switch.
Instead of trying to spruce up the animation and models they tried to recreate the 3ds ones instead of trying to improve them.
