>>41511550What a nerd, what matters is that the Pokémon are cute and have personality. and part of what helps that is the little lore snippets, in other words, the Story. When i think of story and characters in Pokémon i don't think of Gym leaders and dick sucking rivals, i think of how BULLIED Type:Null is, the abomination Galar Fossils and Zigzagoon running in Zigzag patterns.
If it was only about the battle numbers people would just stick to Showdown and nothing else, yet the MERCHANDISE that Pokémon has (Making up the majority of the income what is the largest franchise in the world IIRC) shows people clearly associate Pokémon with more then just the battle system, especially how fucking common the WAAAH I WANT REAL TIME COMBAT begging is from "casuals".
The true value of Pokémon is the Pokémon designs and characterization making them marketable, not the number crunching, for fucks sake the number crunching was fucking busted when the franchise started with Gen 1 so that alone should prove the point.
