I think this is the lowest-levelled team I've used to beat Red in Gen 2 (playing on set mode with no items beyond 2 Full Restores). I wasn't massively prepared either, just got lucky with matchups and being able to have Tauros set up 6 Curses on Snorlax without getting KOd by a crit.
Bit of a grindy run overall, between breeding for Hi Jump Kick on Tyrogue and Mega Drain on Exeggcute (they're a little screwed over in terms of STAB otherwise) and trying to get a 0.7% Thick Club drop in the Rock Tunnel. Fortunately I was playing on an emulator so they were more "boring" and less "soul-sucking" with speed-up enabled.
