It's a type being applied to pokemon who are, in some way, fairy-like. We already have Altaria as a dragon-type and Crustle as a bug-type.
Sometimes a pokemon's typing is stretched for the sake of adding type diversity, and that's okay. It's nothing new and you're just dodging logic with really weak points.
