The overarching theme of freedom spreads across the entire plot, between its characters, pokemon, plot, to even the tera mechanic. Paldea itself is a fun region with the most memorable cast of characters we've seen in a long, long time. The friend group is earned, the overarching plot is intense without involving an evil team, there's weird new ideas, and the story beats are just a good time. The Pokemon themselves are way more lively than ever before, with the model upgrades and tons of new animations. The DLC really helps give the game a proper post-game with all those extra mons to catch and the final pieces of the plot.
That being said, there are major issues here. The lack of houses, horrible resolution and graphics in general, and missing legacy features like battle facilities and proper character customization are major issues. The worst thing imo is the balancing of the game, where no strides were made to help even out the playing field. A level cap or rolling levels would've made a huge difference. Hell, even Indigo Disk with all its fancy ass strong teams still get easily ripped apart since they're still not level 100.
Overall I enjoyed them, probably my favorite set of mainline games since gen 5.
