>Is Gardevoir more than a Dog?A matter of perspective, pokemon are seen mostly as little more than animals, and most of them are based on actual animals, but the Ralts line is definitely not designed to be seen as an animal.
My headcanon is that they're like a mirror, and that the human psyche rubs off on them as they bond with trainers. A Ralts is drawn to a particular kind of person instinctively and bonds with them in order to learn and grow, becoming more like a human in thought as they evolve. At least that's what I always thought back in RS since you would only ever come across Ralts, and never the later evolutions.
