>>54402324The problem is that people always assume a Digital/Virtual type would be set aside for robots and stuff, and then they incorrectly retype Pokemon such as Rotom or Metagross as that type. I think that conceptually it should be totally different, a type reserved for Pokémon specifically who exist in the world of digital data / cyberspace. That would then give you license to create designs that are very abstract or unnatural in appearance. Porygon line gets retyped to Virtual, but everything after that is unique. It isn't anything you can do with Steel or Electric as of now because those types are mechanical / analog -- Rotom is a Ghost that possesses motors, for example, so there's nothing "virtual" about it. Meanwhile something like Porygon has the ability to exit and enter computers and exist in cyberspace, which is something completely different. I know picrel is edgy OC shit, but this is a design and concept I can't picture as any other type but "Virtual." It opens the door to really strange and new ideas, because now you're bringing in Pokemon that would sit on the edge of other types without feeling 100% like they fit (something you yourself say). We could get a lot more crazy designs, similar to some of the Digimon, with a type like this.
>>54403292The logic is definitely there, but I wanted to have it be a type that felt really out of place so it was only weak to itself. It's unnatural to our world, so why would it have real world relationships? It also helps the Pory line not feel like they're getting completely fucked by losing Normal type and picking up all these weaknesses.
