Like many have stated in this thread, shitmons exist because of JRPG enemy design philosophy but that does conflict with the message of playing with your favorites. I think the reason so many newer generation Pokemon are viable and good now is because so many older Pokemon are brought back that there's no need to create new shitmons, just new Pokemon that are all viable in their own way. That's why so many new Pokemon are bonkers good compared to older designs, I think. The shitmons are already mostly filled out and done with.
