>>58640004>Speaking of balance: anyone ever felt like IQ groups are far too unbalanced? Oh they definitely are. IQ system as a whole is a jank due to the fact that Chunsoft had basically no idea how to make Shiren the Wanderer but with permanent stat progression to the MC to balance things, so it ends up being all cattywampus. I get the idea though, they want different pokemon to have different roles, but go far enough into the postgame and the different roles become less of an asset and more of a liability.
>But on the other hand, how could you even balance this?I personally think that the DX's system of changing skills on the fly is good enough of a balancing act, but at the same time limiting 1 skill for each pokemon is a bit iffy. Granted the remake is a noticeably easier game, but for the difficulty of vanilla Explorers I think IQ can be more balanced by making the skills interchangeable, e.g. Trap Avoider should not be confined to group F, rather any pokemon of any IQ group can learn a skill so essential if they ever consume a gummi or Spinda's drink while being a leader. Same with skill like Lava Avoider, Survivalist, etc.
Maxing IQ out at 900 points while a single gummi increasing at most 5 is a jank that needs to go too.
