>>36502185I think my personal favorite part of Tamagotchi is not just how varied the characters can be, but also the secret characters. Each toy had at least one that was only available under specific conditions, and they were always a challenge to obtain; you had to really monitor the thing and care for it exactly a certain way to get it. I think the closest equivalent to Pokemon I could make is shiny hunting.
