You either trial and error 50 million runs to get the exact encounters for certain parts, or you have to play glued to a Wiki to avoid random bullshit killing your run
Hardcore Nuzlockes, ie, Set, no items in battle, no overleveling and my personal preference is only bringing the same amount of Pokemon to a gym leader as they have on games like Emerald/Platinum/BW2 Challenge Mode or even XY is peak fun
