Gen 5 aimed further on the cool side then any gen before or after, whether it worked for you personally or not is irrelevant but to compare that to a gen whose main point of advertisement has been the cute marketable plushie designs that make twitter people clap their feet like smolive or lechonk. The two knights are the only ones who slot in with the gen 5 design aesthetic while so far this is just a more extreme case of gen 8 and 2 design philosophy emphasizing cuteness. For fuck's sake we haven't even gotten the starter evolutions yet so it's clear they want this to be the cutesy cartoony-headed gen.
