>>31745946They did it for a reason, it was because you almost never even used special punch on Hitmonchan, you just used 2 jabs and you'd KO Electabuzz, and 3 would KO most of the other basics. You never wanted to stack too much energy on one pokemon because of how strong trainers were in base.
Wasn't until Scyther came in Fossil that special punch became necessary sometimes (2 pluspower punches plus one unboosted would KO) and even then you'd usually just try to scoop up/switch/gust of wind to get Hitmonchan out in that matchup.
