Its probably the only time where the sequel isn't just a rehash to its earlier counterpart and actually flows out as a different game altogether, a.k.a an actual sequel. You can play Platinum and its basically Diamond/Pearl only with a different legendary and vice versa, Emerald is pretty much Ruby/Sapphire with the same principles and so on.
