I've only played Gens 1, 2 and 3, and I did catch them all in those games. I didn't bother playing any of the following Gens as the Gen 3 full Pokedex was a long grind, and to me completing the dex is one of the main reasons to play Pokemon (that and pic related, and they eventually stopped making those). If I bought SV I would feel obligated to catch every Pokemon available and with over 1000 mons it's just way too much.
