We haven't had an "element + animal" final starter evo since Sceptile and Swampert, and for good reason. All the starters past them have way more character and identity because they have a more diverse theme. They go too far with some of them being too human, yes, but that doesn't mean they can't have ones that aren't.
Torterra's a great example. He's not just "grass+tortoise", he's "grass + tortoise + landscape" which comes together to make him a solid reference to the myth of the world turtle. There's layers to his design and it's not humanoid at all.
They don't gotta go back to just having bland elemental animals, they just gotta stop making them humanoid to fit into their extra theme.
