>>33576615I treat battles as dynamic fights with dodging and parrying and all that happy shit. There's no outright "this typing will win no matter what and that's that," as things like speed, wisdom, etc. all factor into how likely a fight is to go in one combtant's favor over the other.
Karan and Gourdon fighting is a one-sided stomp of a fight because Karan has a type advantage, speed advantage, experience advantage, and a few other things tucked under her belt.
Contrast this to Viola's fight with Luna, wherein she wins purely by exploiting the time of day (a Moonblast during a full moon) and a lucky guess. For all intents and purposes, Luna would have won were it not for this spot of luck/awareness of the environment.
I also apply a sort of template to battles, where battles intended to resolve disputes or between trainers are non-lethal barring accidents. There is an understanding that neither side is actively trying to kill and during League matches we have [pseudoscience] helping keep things safe. This is in contrast to the other template I use, which is what ever battle in ACPC has been: fights where the winner is the one who lives.
