>>54934656I collect records, and I’ve somewhat recently started collecting original Ukiyo-e prints. Recently picked up a beautiful copy of Bamboo Lattice Moon from Yoshitoshi’s 100 Aspects of the Moon. A tragic and contemplative piece depicting Hidetsugu (adopted son of the Shogun Hideyoshi) after being exiled by his father. This is a man who held one of the most powerful court positions in Kyoto, an accomplished general and administrator in line to head the bakufu, but here he’s depicted exiled in a shabby room on Mount Koya. He’d later be forced to kill himself, and his entire family (including 39 women and children) would also be put to death.
