Is it like an Indian thing where it arranged before their birth and they are obligated to fulfill it? Well how would they know they'd end up with a human partner rather then pokemon? What if I tell them to fuck off? What if rather then have my Lucario/Zoroark/Charizard/Braixen be forced to marry me whether either of want it I release them so neither of us have to do something we don't want.
Lastly, why become mate to something you can't produce offspring with!
The whole thing sounds like bullshit to me.
