Giovanni in Gens 4 and 5 seemed to be going in another direction in terms of character development. If some of the alleged leaks are to be believed, he was supposed to be reformed in SM, or at least the version of him from the "current" universe (though I don't know if that "leak" was debunked).

Sure, it gave us a couple of badass alts, but at this point, Giovanni is starting to become as non-threatening as Jessie & James, kek. At least he's in the Lodge which is a huge win for Giovannifags and all villainfags alike.
