While I don't think the whole "removing pokemon" thing was necessary, I do think GF was right to reveal it and the Wild Area together like this.
Both of these things weren't going to go over well. They knew the Wild Area has some bad textures and is empty and that people would hate this change.
But by doing this right now with 5 months of reveals and potential hype to pull from, GF can get the attention from the outrage and then turn it around by the time the games come out.
They have plenty of new shit to show that will look better than the Wild Area, which will sway most normies that would have been upset from this.
And they have the chance to lay out a roadmap at some point with info on the games and Home to quell the more casual fan outrage.
Basically, GF took the first napkin. They now have all the power to decide how this goes over the next 5 months.
