>>58128350It's supposed to be based on the Tohoku region, particularly the prefectures of Aomori (known for its apples) and Iwate (it has a legend about oni that sounds similar to Ogerpon's, and there's a city that's just called Kitakami). Dunno about the other prefectures but they might've been inspirations too, this is just from a cursory search. Tohoku should be close to Hokkaido but they're separated by sea.
