along that same line of thought, if theres just a gap at the back of the ice, it would use those to let its tentacles or whatever hang out. pic related is just a development on that. considering the way it may have flown through space, or, since its body is gelatenous, the way it may be able to manipulate itself.
it wasnt really changing anything in the design, except perhaps the idea that there may be a hole in the back of the ice. i wasnt suggesting that the bacteriophage shape be cut out entirely. just a thought, similar to how ferrothorn spins and expels its thorns
