Buddy barrier, eject button, and surf are non negotiable.
Energy amplifier is extremely nice.
I prefer wise glasses over focus band but your milage may vary.
Air slash vs. hurricane depends on you and your team. Air slash is something I haven't paid much attention to until recently, but its short cooldown time, excellent damage, mobility, and especially the healing from the upgraded version make it damn good.
However, if your team is really lacking CC or is good enough to take advantage of the CC hurricane provides, it's excellent too. Just watch out for that long cooldown time.
Your unite move deals a shitload of damage, but the secret to it is that it's actually a zoning tool. Both teams on dred? Hop into a bush, pop that shit, and watch your enemies run for the hills. Even if I'm low and they're at full HP, I find people get scared shitless of being in side of that circle. Capitalize on that and secure those objectives for your team. You can also use eject button to reposition during the unite move, so try to sync up the two. Note that it doesn't target enemies you can't see, so be mindful of nearby bushes providing shelter for the enemy.
Dive is dogshit, there's one anon here who swears by it but it's just bad.
You are very squishy. If the going gets tough, get going.
Walk into your surfs and whirlpools to get a free arrowkuda.
Avoid walking near wild pokemon with an arrowkuda or pikachu because you'll spit it at them automatcially.
