You also might be shocked at how much of it comes down to time elapsed on the website over a period of time than it is obsessive moment to moment observation. 12 years on the site and a casual pace of browsing /vp/ on and off as a side board has more than revealed the inner workings of the site and this board to me. It's just a side effect on spending time here for an extended period, I very much doubt you could obsessively squeeze my browsing time into 1-2 years and reach the same level of understanding, partially because the events as they played out in real time is part of my context for understanding and partially because a website as chaotic as this requires time over raw exposure to understand better.
I'm not trying to say this as a brag or a grand conspiracy, it just is. I frankly wish I couldn't see the inner workings so clearly because it overall lessens my enjoyment of 4chan immensely.
