Pokemon is not just the games, it has a fuckhuge franchise. And by the nature of 4chan posters if you are posting about Pokemon Special on /a/ or the TCG on /tg/ the thread will sooner or latter derail into things that are not related to the board contents.

Same with Touhou and the huge amount of fanworks.

There is no excuse for /mlp/ though, it was just spammed everywhere for no reason, both ironically and unironically so moot had to create that cesspool.

Definitely not the "same" reason with /mlp/.
That board doesn't even discuss about fucking ponies like civilized beings. Ninety percent of their threads are comprised of posts such as, "omg i wish i was a pony, reality sucks )))):" or ">you will never cum inside rainbow dash ;_______;".
It's fucking revolting and atrocious that such human beings exist in this world and they have their own little den on this site.
Yes, /vp/ is shit, but when it comes to terms of quality; we're definitely better.
