I'm versing my friend and this shit is powerful as fuck
It always uses Hypnosis on me. Known moves are Dark Pulse,Hypnosis,ShadowBall, ?
It'll be helpful to give me a pokemon to counter it, along with a moveset and EV's, nature, all that shit.

Standard Blissey/Chansey fear nothing from Gengar, and it's fucked if you T-Wave it. Gengar is extremely fragile and relies predominantly on speed and sometimes Substitute.

Also, priority moves: Scizor's Bullet Punch will wreck Gengar's shit, and Gengar has nothing against Scizor unless it carries Hidden Power Fire.

Gengar has tons of counters. /vp/ hates them but I recommend reading up at Smogon, basic knowledge from there will let you obliterate anyone that uses both Dark Pulse and Shadow Ball on the same Pokemon.

In that case, Hypnosis doesn't matter because only 1 of your Pokemon can be put to sleep, leaving Gengar useless against whatever else you have.

Blissey/Chansey are a good suggestion so long as you're using one with Natural Cure, as this removes their status upon switching out.

Hypnosis, as said, has shitty accuracy, so if you switch between things that resist Gengar, eventually it will miss, giving you the opportunity to win.

You can also run a Pokemon with the ability Insomnia, which prevents being put to sleep. You can look that up elsewhere.

Psychic, Shadow Ball, Signal Beam and Trump Card
Choice scarf means it can outspeed Gengar (unless Gengar is scarf'd too) and bonus points if you switch in when it uses Hypnosis and it's ability (magic bounce) reflects hypnosis back to it thus you have a sleeping gengar ripe for the picking

Sucker punch from any decent attacker will oneshot the fucker with priority. Get an early bird shiftry as it will wake quick as fuck if he hypnotizes you and you resist both of his known attacking moved... Other moves on Shiftry should be Nature Power, Seed Bomb and Swords Dance. For item i reccommend Focus Sash.

Normally I wouldn't have shadow ball on Jolteon, but if you want something specifically for taking down Gengar, I'd use it.

Anything that has Insomnia is a good call. Either that or something with Sleep Talk.
Alternatively, a Kangaskhan with Scrappy ability and Snore will also work. Makes Fake Out a valid attack that way too
