Wow I was wondering wtf was going when I fast this Jap player last night. He starts off with Shiny Manectric and I'm like okay cool. He volt switches apparently predicting me. Then out comes shiny Gourgeist he then proceeds to counter everything I do with 100% accuracy. I attempt a play to stop his Gourgeist and he switches to a perfect counter it being a shiny Azumarill. I had to quit there was no way he was catching me on every turn. Now this thread just confirms my suspicions

I think breeding takes a lot of luck, honestly. I was able to breed a 5 IV perfect Larvitar from nothing in 5 batches, but getting a female speed boost Torchic just to breed baton pass onto took me fifteen batches. Of course, I was able to use the excess Torchics to breed the 5 IV baton pass Torchic much faster, but the first step took a fuck of a lot longer than it should have - statistically speaking, one out of every 8 should have been female, and one out of every 2 of those approximately should have had speed boost. Instead, out of the 70 or so that I bred, only 5 were female, and only one had speed boost.

Unless I'm a huge idiot and there's some other, more reliable way to breed yourself a female speed boost torchic, I can see it taking someone a hundred eggs if they started with nothing and got really unlucky.
