Have a team but they just be for occasional battling or other uses like using shuckle to make juice and torterra to sleep on

Trainers have a license to be bandits / highwaymen. lurking at the edge of civilization, just waiting to defeat a weaker foe and rob them blind. Any time you lost to a random trainer, they took hundreds, if not thousands, of poke bucks from you.
The citizens stay in the cities, and are civilized. No random battles as you walk into the pokemart, no unrest in the streets.
Let me work for a living, with a few dedicated pokemon at my side.

I'd keep with my studies and work afterwards, but I'll still try to get Pokemon that I like and maintain a team if possible as a side hobby. Traveling wouldn't be possible if working in the city but maybe vacations would give me the chance to go to the right areas to find the Pokemon that I want to get, with an added "I need to get this guy before the vacation is over" time limit.

Many gym leaders in the games appear to have a real job aside from their battling role (Clay the businessman, Lenora the museum curator) and we see lots of businessmen and women trainers in Black and White. Which makes me realize how much "deeper" Unova actually is in expanding and world building for the Pokemon universe and how the people live there without necessarily being full POKEMON TRAINER mode.

Pokemon just being real wouldn't really make dedicating your life to training sustainable. At the minimum, you'd need battling to become a popular sport so top trainers could earn money on tournaments while using top smogonteams against top smogonteams.
Now, if all the workings of a pokemon world became real, then yeah, I'd drop my job and go training.

It depends, these threads hardly ever specify whether it would be Pokemon in our world or us in the Pokemon world, because it's quite a bit different. I'd love to live in the Pokemon world. Life seems to be a lot simpler and easier, and considering any child can catch and train even the largest and most powerful Pokemon, there'd be no restrictions for what you can catch. If it was our world, Pokemon would likely be more dangerous and you'd only be able to tame the weakest ones, plus we'd still have to deal with the bullshit we've with right now in our world.
