g1: charizard thanks to mega
g2: none of the g2 starters are very competitively viable, so let's go with feraligatr, the most based
g3: smogon chicken
g4: infernape because empoleon got shafted with his movepool
g5: gen 5 had arguably the worst starters, both competitively and design wise. samurott i guess because water is the best (competitively speaking) of the starter types
g6: smogon frog
if it was the former:
g1: all of the g1 starters are great
g2: feraligatr (fuck meganium)
g3: besides g1 this is the only gen (okay maybe gen 6 too) where all the starters are great
g4: empoleon for life live by the pole die by the pole
g5: fuck gen 5, serperior is okay i guess but gf could have done better
g6: smogon frog again
