I'm planning to start a new game but I have a few questions.

I'm going to store all of my competitive pokemon in Bank and have my friend hold all my megastones / battle items.

At the start of the new save file (after I get the Pokedex, etc etc) will I be able to battle online with my pokemon from my old save file? Do I have to have all of the badges first?
