what would even be the theme of a dark type gym?
all the other types have something to play around with.
unless it has some gloomy ambiance like grimlsy's room or has poor lighting, it must be kinda hard to find a good idea for the gym

A lot of dark types don't appear until pretty late in the game and aren't available to catch in early levels. I suppose they could theoretically make a 7th or 8th gym dark type though, but their team would need to be at least above the mid-40s to not have it filled with shitty first-stage 'mons.

Dark types usually suck until late in the game when they get nice attacks and can start trolling. Low level dark types are not really strong unless you MT them something.

But yeah a gym would be nice, dark type is usually left for the evil team so is kinda shit

You could easily have an early dark type gym with the likes of Purrloin/Liepard, Poochyena/Mightyena and Sableye - all of which are early game Dark Types

B-but isn't Dark type called "Evil" type in japanese? Gym leaders ain't evil (with the sole exception of Giovanni), so if there is ever a Dark gym, expect it to be heavily related to the plot.
