I got a great deal on this. It was the last blue copy left at Toys R'Us and I got it for $200, plus $40 for X version, when regular 3DS' were $240 total, with no game. So I got a LE plus game for the same price, and the dudes working the electronics section when I came in (late at night) even gave me some tips.

It's pretty great except, major complaint, the decorated shell is like, peeling away. Especially where my left thumb lies it isn't attached to the 3DS, and I'm afraid it's just going to snap off. Do these plates come off? Oh, and also, the damn cartridge comes out when I'm walking. So I put the game into sleep mode for streetpass and when I get home the cartridge will have ejected. Super annoying.

Not really, I like minimalist aesthetics. I don't really get how you can simultaneously be proud of your 3ds's decals and not care about the heavy scratches, but hey. Perhaps you consider them to be battle scars.

I'll just say be very wary of any custom decal 3DS 'skins' - most seem to suffer from having the decal cover the entire indent around the circle pad, making it impossible to move it around unless you actually cut the skin in that indent. I felt awful having to trim this otherwise beautiful skin with a steak knife, leaving it all tattered and stringy around the cut area - the tatters eventually kinda wore down and now it's not too noticeable, but still, very poor design choice. If I could go back in time I'd just get a plain decal.

unfortunately it lost a lot of the flower petals over the past couple years. I'm considering a crane and maple leaves if I ever upgrade to an XL or some other inevitable future 3DS model. Hopefully I can find pretty decals that stick better.

I got them while I was living in Japan - they have all sorts of decals that are usually meant for phones. Some of them do get sold in import sites though.

My sister also put similar decals on her XL - it has waves and clouds instead and it having a matte finish, the individual droplets from the waves have yet to peel off after a year
