Battles are fun to watch and the Pokemon diversity is incredibly good, letting you use whatever the hell you want. The gen 6 mons are also interesting, diverse, and don't make the game too easy if you use them.
That said, the polish wears off when you realize the luster is only good for one playthrough like
>>21258709 says. There's no endgame and really feels like a platform for making more games, but that isn't so terrible. Right now would be a perfect time to run through XY since by the time you get sick of XY's lack of content ORAS will be out.
Though if you're the nitpicky type you might now enjoy XY on your first playthrough. Just saying this because of the picture. I feel like if Mike were a game reviewer he would pick XY apart like he does with movies.
