The only thing Pikachu has in common with the pika (outside of its vague traits found in most members of clade Glires) is the name. Fatchu looks like a standing cartoon mouse with spiky ears and a lightning bolt tail. Skinnychu, though, doesn't look much like a pika at all.

Names don't mean everything. Despite being named after pigeons, Pidgey doesn't look much like one.

Yeah, that was poor planning, giving a random non-pigeon Pokemon a pigeon-based name. Really screwed over poor Pidove.
