Nobody forces anyone to follow Smogon rules and if you find someone trying to force you to follow them on wifi battle you can simply say "fuck it" and disconnect.
It's just that people that play Pokemon most of the time have this weird social disconnection. Same with people that have what you would call "childish hobbies". I'm not any better than anyone at this thread, but I think it's something hampering our development as mature human beings that are able to function on society. Just look at the autism that displays on waifumon threads.
