Any TCG players? Couldn't find a trading card game thread so i'll start this to bitch about something.

Tell me Shaymin's aroma of gratitude isn't broken as FUCK. Heals 20 HP of all your benched pokemon per turn as it's ability.

Can't find the english card for some reason but this is it.

20 HP isn't a whole lot, and it's pretty rare that you'll have more than 1 or 2 damaged Pokemon on your bench, unless you're running a deck that causes damage to your own bench.

I plan to finish up every set, but I'm doing so in order while also trying to keep up on current cards as well. That way buying singles for those when it comes time won't kill me.

Only need 19 more cards to finish up Base, Jungle, and fossil.

Would it be feasible to run a Grass/Steel deck that revolved around gradual Shaymin healing + defensive cards that allow your Pokemon to take "20 reduced damage" for example?

Super new to the TCG, I haven't even played another real person yet but I wanna make something that isn't total shit with the cool Steel types if they're still in rotation.

I really enjoyed the game up to skyridge, but after that, I started losing interest.

And when Darkness and Metal got their non-special energies, that was it for me. The whole point of those types was to be harder to put them in play to compensate for their special effects.

Decided to make a new deck for the weekend tourneys at my LGS last Saturday. "Adult" league was playing Standard so I made M. Scizor EX and placed 2nd. Fun as fuck deck, but burns out hard. Got 30$ store credit so I picked up 2 more VS Seeker to finish up my third play set and used the rest to buy some kid who I was teaching how to play a precon.

Fun times overall. Fuck Night March decks though.

Look at theme decks and get the best ones, then win tourneys to get free packs. Look online to code only sales, you can usually find them for like .30 cents or so. Open coin packs to get basic cards, trade packs for rare shit.

I just got like five wins in a row with this deck on standard versus. Did I actually do something sort of right here, or am I just getting retarded opponents? The one guy I lost to so far had a chain of 4 EX Alakazams all doing combos off each other. I was able to kill one of them though.

You have a good deck starting out, you also usually get matched with closely matched people, but thats a good one to get into the game.

If you're looking to make a good deck, you might lack a Mega-Gyarados EX deck.

I just cant win with theme at all in vs mode. I never fucking ever get the cards I need, like when I run the Mental Might deck, all my 3 Kirlia always end up at the bottom of the deck and I lose.

Theme is roll the dice to see who ends up with less dead of a hand before getting donked or having 6 Pokemon they can't use due to no energies. You basically want to get into constructed as soon as possible and only use theme for challenges.

Not him (Scizor guy here actually), but not really. A turn or two at the most, and barely any reliance on luck. 4 Sycamore, 4 Ultra Balls, 4 pic related, and some extra draw power for cards to toss for Sycamore and ball and you're swinging for 160+ damage turn 2-3, little risk. At least, that's how I've seen it played.

I just got lucky that I only faced two of those decks, 1st and 3rd place, and 3rd was clearly a scrub who had a friend make him the deck.

Sometimes a card isn't inherently broken on its own, but borders on it because of the other cards in the format. Battle Compressor is a good example of that. Sending 3 cards to the discard isn't a big deal on its own, but there are so damn many cards in the format that take advantage of it that it's ridiculous. It's the same deal with Shaymin existing in a format with multiple ways to recycle it.
