>>27306224Personally, the only one I need on any regular basis once I clear the game is Fly, the rest are relegated to slave status. Surf/Waterfall are solely there because they're not half bad in battle and some Pokemon could really use the extra move. (eg. Waterfall on Quagsire in Gen 4)
Shame, really, the only HM moves I hold in high disgust are Defog, Rock Smash, and Flash, the rest are pretty okay. Whirlpool has helped me in capturing Pokemon in Gen 2 so I'm willing to give it a pass. Cut was useful back in Gen 1/2 as an option to shore up your cut'mons' terrible movesets, but improvements to the TM list and their own movesets have rendered it, and most HMs by now, largely unnecessary.
I forgot to add last post, Emerald has this silly mechanic where you can't delete Surf off a Pokemon if it is the last owned Pokemon you have that can Surf.
I'm all for the notion of Pokemon helping you to get around in the overworld, but the Move Deleter counter-feature has becoming a band-aid for a lock that was only useful the first time around, and both have overstayed their welcome.
