The franchise is probably over. I do suggest picking up the first two though, they're really great and pretty cheap now. I haven't even finished Frontier even though I've had it basically since it came out, though. If they make more FF games I hope they mostly go back to the original two.

Frontier lives up in writing charm but gameplay is a mess, especially compared to the first two.
