I never understood why people hated on them so much, I enjoyed them. It was a solid first attempt at a 3D pokemon.

However OR/AS deserves all the fucking hate it gets. While technically not bad, it's definitely the worst of the series with how fucking lazy they got with it, leaving out so many improvements that Emerald had is fucking inexcusable. Hacked versions make it playable but still the worst. Also dear god that music.

Simple enough is soaring mechanic so that you can have faster travel without having to have the pokemon in your party. Needs to return in some way shape or form for sun and moon and not just to be reduced to certain areas.

Hoenn didn't have particularly good level scaling in the originals.
The first set of leader's and trainers levels were too high which essentially forced you to grind but towards the half way point they wouldn't be high enough so you could blitz through it.

ORAS swapped it around so the early ones were lower while the later games were higher.

gen 5 was nothing but story and I beat it in under 15 hours
and honestly D/P/Pt took longer
