What's /vp/'s official stance on using Legendaries during playthroughs? I feel like it makes easy games even easier, but some of them are really cool..

I mean, Lugia isn't even uber, right?

Literally every cover legendary except Suicune and Kyurem-B is uber and Kyurem-B was meant to be uber but GF fucked up its movepool.

If you buy into Smogon and that sort of thing. You can kill Lugia with one rock type move, and I know because I've done it before.

Does that mean using them is fair game?

I never really use Legendaries in games but not because of any gameplay reasons. By the time you get to your first legendary in every game you've been travelling with your crew for a while. By that point I've become attached to them and they have their little personalities and relationships in my head. And yes I am aware of how autistic that sounds but it's enough to where I can't rationalize replacing one of them for a powerhouse. This only applies to the initial ascent to the E4 though. Once I defeat the Champion I'm more willing to swap around members of my team.

I almost never use em, except for Latias in AS because she appeared as part of the story and it felt right. I thought she might play a bigger role, but Soar was nice enough.

I have no issue using the weaker Legendaries like the Beasts, the Regis, the Musketeers, etc.

Won't use the really powerful ones. Just makes things too one sided and boring, and by the time you get them I usually already have a team I'm very attached to.

Personally, the ones you have to earn (e.g. the Regis, Latis, and so on) are acceptable to have in a playthrough. If they give it to you, like ORAS Lati or Xerneas/Yvetal, that just makes everything boring.

It's fine if you want to, but I personally don't because they make what is an already easy game far too easy.
As well, they stifle creative team building when allowed, as people are bound to want to use them for their sheer power.

Ehh depends. I normally never use them but in a recent run of sa I rp'd a sailor trainer that defended the seas. I used lugia suicune Dragonite and Machamp. It was super autistic but I enjoyed and in my head it all made sense. Bottom line if you enjoy using them then go right ahead.

I liked using Solgaleo and Lunala due to the story, and it helped that they were only at the very end of the game so that there weren't many things to steamroll with them. Latias and Latios might not have been too bad but I found ORAS too easy as it is so I didn't bother with them. Haven't tried any other legendaries ingame other than using Articuno back in Pokemon Red for Lance like many did.
