if overcentralizing was the main reason for bans, half of gen 1 OU wouldn't be usable, Snorlax would be banned in gen 2, Tyranitar in 3, Scizor in 4. All of them have even higher usage then Lando did, even double in some cases.

Let me put it like this: defense only matters when you get hit.

If you can predict your enemies moves so that every time you get hit, you're in Shield Forme, you effectively have a BST of 720

That would be a check, not a counter. A counter has be able to switch into any of its moves, then survive Shadow Sneak and be able to KO it. Not many things can do that and also dodge King's Shield. On top of that, most things that resist Ghost lose to Sacred Sword.

Yeah, but when you have to use 2 Pokemon to deal with Aegislash because the check you sent in died, that means your 4 Pokemon left are gonna have a lot of fun fighting the opponent's 5 Pokemon team still left.

The definition of counter changes when it meets the council's agenda. Reminder literally nothing can counter Wobbufet in gen 4 and 5 due to shadow tag yet it was unbanned for gen 5 despite nothing being able to switch into wob. Same case for when Gothitelle got shadow tag in Gen 5.
